Job Title: Prairie Farms Relief Operator Immediate Supervisor: Production Supervisor FLSA Status: Non-exempt Summary: The Utility Relief Operator is responsible for supplying day-to-day coverage for all operations in the Production Department. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Provides vacation and daily coverage for all full time employees as scheduled by the Production Supervisor.Document all daily reports for work completed.Ensure sanitation, safety, GMP's (Good Manufacturing Practices) and quality policies and procedures are followed.Assist in any other areas of the manufacturing plant when necessary.Able to take direction and willing to work according to the instructions that are given by line leads or supervisors. Must be flexible enough to embrace change and ask questions when needed.Must have strong upper body strength for some aspects of cheese production.Actively develop problem solving skills and initiative to consider and implement adjustments based on experience and sound judgement.Must be a team player and able to work well with others but also able to work independently and productively with a timely outcome. Be persistent and hardworking while maintaining a positive attitude and environment. Embrace and support the plant's safety program and policies to insure a safe, hazard-free working environment for all employees. Adhere to company policies and legal guidelines and procedure in the areas of the overall packaging and production department, human resources, food safety and quality assurance. Help maintain a safe and orderly environment of the facility.Must be able to work in a fast-paced environmentMust be in good physical condition: able to bend, lift, twist, move, stand and/or walk through entire shift. Must be able to perform repetitive tasks that often involve dexterity, using the wrist, arms, or handsMust be able to life 50 lbs. or more at a time.Must be punctual and reliable. Qualification/Requirements:Minimum high school diploma.Five years experience in production, sanitation, and packaging in a dairy environment.Pasteurizer Certificate preferred, but not required.Must be able to read, interpret and understand written and oral directions.Knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials and supplies.Must demonstrate basic math skills to calculate production yields, and understand weights and measures.Must be able to verbally communicate, understand, and write in the English language.Must be able to work flexible hours and weekends. Physical Requirements:While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to sit, stand, or walk for prolonged periods of time. The employee is required to use hands and fingers to operate, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms on a repetitive basis.
