Job Overview

The Department of Judaic Studies in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Cincinnati and the Nancy and David Wolf Holocaust and Humanity Center invite applications for a visiting professor and scholar-in-residence in Holocaust and Genocide Studies. This is a full-time position at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor beginning August 15, 2024. The initial appointment through UC is for one year with the possibility of a one-year extension. Background in Holocaust Studies is required. Qualified candidates will have expertise in the academic study and teaching of the Holocaust and genocide in history, literature, or film. Teaching responsibilities may include Literature of the Holocaust, Holocaust and Film, History of the Holocaust, Religion and Genocide, Genocides in History, as well as courses on racism, Islamophobia, and antisemitism or other courses in the candidate's field of study. Twenty percent of the position involves serving as the Scholar-in-Residence for the Nancy and David Wolf Holocaust and Humanity Center. This entails supporting the Holocaust and Humanities Center's leadership and educational staff with expertise on Holocaust and genocide scholarship; creating professional development opportunities for local educators such as workshops, seminars, lunch and learns; and connecting the UC community with HHC. Funding is being sought for a full-time tenure track position beginning in the Fall of 2025.

Essential Functions

We are seeking individuals whose research and teaching activities promote interdisciplinary collaboration with other departments and colleges at UC and our consortium partners. They should be able to integrate digital technologies into the classroom.  Applicants' research and teaching should be consistent with our mission, which emphasizes a commitment to collaborative projects nationally and internationally.

Minimum Requirements

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in-hand by August 1, 2024, evidence of research and publication activity, solid evidence of teaching effectiveness.
