Visiting Assistant Professor of Mathematics or Statistics

Kenyon College seeks to fill a one-year visiting position at the assistant professor level in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics beginning July 2024. A Ph.D. in Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related field is preferred, but ABD's will be considered. Prior teaching experience at a U.S. college or university or an equivalent institution is required. Our department has a strong commitment to student-centered learning; thus, we will be particularly interested in candidates with experience in active learning techniques and using mathematical/statistical technology for instruction. All areas of specialty will be considered. The ability to teach introductory statistics, introductory programming, or applied mathematics is desirable.

Kenyon College, located on an idyllic campus in rural central Ohio, is ranked in the top tier of national liberal arts colleges, and has a reputation for outstanding teaching and scholarship. We have an increasingly diverse student body of 1900 students from the US and over 40 countries around the world. The Mathematics and Statistics Department is housed in a spacious and well-equipped building. We have nine full-time tenure-track faculty members teaching the full range of undergraduate mathematics and statistics courses. The department offers a major in mathematics with areas of emphasis in statistics, classical mathematics, and applied mathematics. We also contribute to an interdisciplinary concentration in computing. The typical teaching load is five courses per year.
