JAS is an international, non-asset-based supply chain services and solutions company. Our services include air and ocean freight forwarding, contract logistics, customs brokerage, distribution, inbound logistics, truckload brokerage and other supply chain management services, including consulting, the coordination of purchase orders and customized management services.

The Warehouse Manager oversees the day to day operations of warehouse functions, personnel, facility safety and security. This position is responsible for timely and accurate distribution of inbound and outbound freight, special projects and communications with other departments and branches. Responsible for office duties and all linked surrogate activities: customer relations, customer invoicing, scheduling pick-ups and deliveries, inventory management, etc.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage day to day operations of warehouse and staff.
  • Responsible for inventory management of clients for which pick and pack operations are completed by the warehouse.
  • Responsible for facility security and safety.
  • Ensure high quality customer service is delivered.
  • Verify shipments for accuracy and document any discrepancies.
  • Ensure any issues with shipment overages or shortages are handled promptly and efficiently.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all federal, state and local rules and regulations.
  • Manage forklift fleet and schedule preventative maintenance checks.
  • Ensure workspace / warehouse is clean of debris at all times to adhere to safety guidelines.
  • Forklift Operation; driving or operating equipment as needed / required to ensure daily schedules are completed.
  • Develop and own emergency management and other applicable HSE plans as per WW management guidelines.
  • Resolve mechanical and maintenance issues.
  • Identify and resolve personnel issues.
  • Single point of contact for office personnel questions.
  • Develop and expand staff knowledge for all accounts / cross-train.
  • Ongoing coaching and mentoring of staff to develop skills to the highest level.
  • Schedule all office and warehouse activities for the full day.
  • Prepare all priority duties for the following days.
  • Exchange of activity and information with other department managers.
  • Develop and own emergency management and other applicable HSE plans as per WW Management guidelines.

  • Able to read, analyze, and interpret moderate to complex business correspondence.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Able to add and subtract two digit numbers, multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
  • Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Able to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • May need to calculate linear, square, and cubic measure in both Metric and Standard formats.
  • Ability to understand and effectively manage inventory conversion factors

•Able to apply principles of logic or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
•Able to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.

  • This position requires the employee to work in both an office environment with moderate noise levels from talking, phones ringing, computers and printers, as well as a warehouse environment, with varying temperature conditions, moderate to loud noise such as forklifts, horns, trucks, etc. This position requires employee to frequently work in a fluid, fast paced environment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; stand; walk; use hands and finger to feel and handle; reach with arms and hands; talk and hear. While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently is required to stoop, kneel, and crouch; lift weight or exert a force up to a maximum of 85 pounds.

  • Able to interact positively and effectively with co-workers, subordinates and supervisors.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma/GED. Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Three to five years experience in distribution, freight forwarding, operations, or warehouse management.
  • Certification in Hazardous Training preferred.
  • Knowledge of forklift / material handling equipment operations, repairs, and training of personnel.
  • Facility management experience.
  • Vast knowledge of import and export regulations in regard to loading or unloading containerized, van loaded or flat-bed shipments.
  • Extensive knowledge of TSA regulations and requirements.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The incumbent will directly and/or indirectly supervise one or more employees.
