What to expect:

Martin Marietta is seeking a Night Shift Welder to join at our Salisbury, NC shop. Reporting to the Shop Manager, the Welder will primarily be responsible for safely performing weld buildup and cutting operations on rock crusher machines and sub-assemblies as part of an overall remanufacture process. This is a night shift position. Working hours for this position will be 10:00 pm to 6:30 am Sunday evening through Friday morning.

A typical day for a Welder may include:

• Maintaining a high level of safety and ensure that the team maintains a safety-first culture

• Performing weld build up on crusher parts using manual, semi-automatic and mechanized welding processes

• Utilizing welding processes such as FCAW, GMAW, SMAW, and SAW

• Using positioners and manipulators to maneuver large workpieces to be welded

• Performing cutting operations using oxyacetylene, oxyfuel, exothermic, carbon air arc, plasma cutters, grinders and a CNC burn table.

• Excavating cracks, use dye penetrant, bevel and fill crack repair in steels

• Using hydraulic rams to push and pull pieces in and out of place

• Ensuring completion of quality control documentation

• Operating rosebuds, torches and induction rope to preheat pieces to desired welding temperatures

• Loading, unloading and programming a stress relief oven

• Welding on cast iron, manganese, and Cu-AL dissimilar

• Using tooling such as an ironworker, horizontal and vertical bandsaws, magnetic drills, come-a-longs, chain-hoists, grinders, hammers and wedges to accomplish assigned tasks

• Completing task training on all overhead cranes, forklifts, sweepers, manlift, scissor lifts, welders and torches within 90 days of hire

• Using 5S methodology in conjunction with the floor sweeper to maintain a clean and safe workplace

• Extending total life expectancy of assets by learning PM procedures for all equipment utilized and remanufactured by the welding group

• Reporting damaged tools and tag out of service so that they can be replaced

• Performing operational equipment checks daily

• Believe and practice safety as the number one priority

• Have obtained a HS Diploma or GED

• Are a self-motivated, strong work ethic individual that is willing to work with minimal supervision and at high level of accountability to operational requirements

• Possess a strong mechanical background

• Can correctly measure parts with tape measures, pi tapes and straight edges

• Utilize a computer with basic skills to report and transfer information

• Can work outdoors in changing weather conditions, cold, wind and sometimes rain

• Can lift up to 50 lbs
