Job Description

A Yard Operator is responsible for completing the following duties:

• Take care of the outside materials and equipment handling needs
• All work is conducted in safe manner with no lost time injuries
• Complete all tasks according to planned schedule
• Inform supervisor of progress on a regular, predetermined basis
• Complete tasks within predefined parameters according to job needs
• Work area and equipment are clean and orderly, well-maintained
• Understanding of basic "in-shop" assembly routines
• knowledge of safe operating and lifting procedures for all equipment named above
• Use the following equipment to move and position parts, subassemblies, and completed equipment
• Forklift
• Yard Crane
• Overhead Crane
• Payloader
• Keep yard organized and free of extra pallets, steel, etc.
• Level and grade yard as necessary
• Perform necessary outside final assembly and inspections
• Work with outbound and inbound truck freight loading and unloading
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Read 1/8", 1/16", and 1/32" gradations on tape measure
• Convert feet / inches
